Axis Bank partners Google Pay to launch UPI credit card
Users can apply digitally at zero cost, receive the card within minutes, and begin transacting without physical paperwork.
Payments can be made across millions of offline merchants and online apps supported by the RuPay network.Rewards earned on transactions, called Stars, can be redeemed instantly, with 1 Star equal to Rs 1.
Users can track spending, pay bills in full, or convert outstanding amounts into EMIs directly through the Google Pay app.
Card management features, including block or unblock options and PIN reset, are also available in-app.Arnika Dixit, president and head – cards, payments and wealth management, Axis Bank, said, “With UPI emerging as the preferred mode of payment, we identified a clear opportunity to co-create a credit offering tailored for the digital-first consumer.” She added, “Seamlessly integrated into the Google Pay app, this card delivers a secure, convenient and rewarding experience that perfectly complements the modern Indian lifestyle.”Sharath Bulusu, senior director – product management, Google Pay, said, “While digital payments have become ubiquitous in India, transactional credit remains underpenetrated.
