<h2>New</h2> <p> high: Rs 28 lakh crore UPI payments in December” title=”UPI” decoding=”async” fetchpriority=”high”/></p></div> </div> </div> </section> </div></div> </div> <p>MUMBAI: UPI payments closed 2025 at a new high extending the steady gains seen through the year.</p> <p>UPI transactions grew 5.7% to 2,163 crore in Dec over the previous month, while payments value climbed 6.3% to nearly Rs 28 lakh crore.<!-- --> The previous high was in Oct with 2,070 crore transactions worth Rs 27.3 lakh crore, NPCI data showed.</p> <p>Compared with a year earlier, UPI volumes were up 29% and value 20% in Dec.</p> <p><span class= Fastag transactions also rose sequentially but showed signs of saturation on an annual basis.

Volumes increased 4.1% month on month to 38.4 crore, aided by holiday travel and year-end freight movement, but were flat compared with a year ago.
