Star Health launches ‘Know Your Policy’ to simplify health cover

Star Health and Allied Insurance has launched ‘Know Your Policy’, a simplified guide designed to help customers understand their health insurance at a glance.
The initiative provides a plain-language, one-page summary of each policy, highlighting key elements such as sum insured, room-rent limits, co-pays, sub-limits, exclusions, waiting periods, network access, and step-by-step claims and cashless procedures.
Customers can access the guide on the Star Health website and app, via a QR code on e-policies, and through partner hospitals and intermediaries at onboarding and renewal.
The material is multilingual and uses visual icons to make complex terms easier to grasp.
Star Health said the move aims to reduce claim disputes and turnaround times, improve documentation quality at pre-authorisation, and enhance overall customer experience.
Training modules for agents and hospital helpdesks are being rolled out so that the same simplified explainer is used across all touchpoints, aligning with the sector’s broader push for transparency and policyholder awareness.
