Taiwanese MediaTek open to get chips made in India

Things can be done to Make in India,” MediaTek’s India MD Anku Jain told TOI here.Like Nvidia and Qualcomm, MediaTek operates as a fabless semiconductor company as it focuses on designing chips and software for devices such as smartphones, laptops, and automobiles, while outsourcing the actual chip fabrication to specialised foundries like TSMC.
MediaTek supplies chips to companies in India as well as globally by getting them produced at TSMC, apart from outsourcing some of the work to Intel Foundry Services and GlobalFoundries. With a $10-billion-incentive package, India has been pushing for production of semiconductor chips in the country.
There are around 10 big projects in the semiconductor space under development in India.
