Yamaha export push: Chennai plant to drive global shipments; company targets 25% rise in overseas sales
When asked about export expectations for this year, he said, “We are trying to achieve a big growth, like by 25 per cent this year on exports.”In 2024–25, India Yamaha Motor recorded a 33.4 per cent increase in exports, shipping 2,95,728 units compared with 2,21,736 units in 2023–24, reported PTI.Explaining the strategy, Otani said the company has already begun exporting to Europe from its Chennai plant, calling the move a success.
“The Chennai factory of Yamaha will be the export hub for the global markets, especially to advanced countries like the US, Europe, and then Japan,” he told PTI, adding that Yamaha continues to invest in the facility to match global standards.The Chennai plant currently exports several models, including the FZ V2, FZ V3, FZ V4 (all 149 cc), Crux (106 cc), Saluto (110 cc), Aerox 155 (155 cc), Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid and Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid (both 125 cc).
Yamaha also exports from its Surajpur plant in Uttar Pradesh.Otani added that the company is “planning” to explore new markets, including advanced countries, and will consider any region where demand exists.
